Men's Golf Places Fourth at MAC Championships

CARMEL, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team concluded its 2013-14 campaign Sunday, May 4, with a fourth-place finish at the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championship. The Eagles finished the three-day, 72-hole event with a total of 1,177 (284-300-303-290) on the par-72, 7,073-yard Prairie View Golf Club.

Sophomore Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) paced the Green and White with a five-over par 293 (71-76-78-68) to finish in an eighth-place. The top-10 showing was the first of White's career and the fourth by an EMU student-athlete this year.

Junior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Nelson-Pfeiffer) and freshman Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) each carded a 295 for 11th-place. Rounding out EMU's lineup senior Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) placed 13th at eight-over par 296 (69-76-76-75) and freshman Joey Kremer (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Senator O'Connor) tied for 37th-place at 20-over par 308 (74-79-80-75).

Kent State captured the team title for the sixth straight year with a team score of three-over par 1,155 (286-284-282-303). Akron was the runner-up with a 1,165 (284-291-300-290) while Toledo placed third at 16-over par 1,168 (293-286-297-292). EMU finished in fourth place while Miami (1,192), Bowling Green (1,194), Ball State (1,195), Ohio (1,206) and Northern Illinois (1,213) rounded out the team standings.

The Golden Flashes' Corey Conners captured medalist honors for the second time in the last three years with an 11-under par 277 (72-67-65-73). He was one of three individuals to finish under par with KSU's Taylor Pendrith (71-70-69-72=282) and Akron's Charlie Bull (69-70-75-70=284) placing second and third, respectively.
