Eagles Sweep MAC Player of the Week Awards

Davitaia earned the singles win, while Mebuke and Supejova won the doubles award for the second straight week

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - After its second weekend of undefeated play in Mid-American Conference matches, the Eastern Michigan Unviersity women's tennis team swept the MAC Player of the Week awards the league office announced, April 2. Diana Davitaia earned the MAC Tennis Singles Player of the Week honor for the first time in her career, while Nino Mebuke and Klara Supejova won the weekly doubles award for the second-straight week.

Davitaia went a perfect 2-0 in a pair of MAC matches this weekend. The Tbilisi, Georgia native first defeating Kathleen Hawkins in the 4-3 victory over Western Michigan by a 6-2, 6-4 tally. In the Green and White's 7-0 win versus Bowling Green, Davitaia took down Emily Reuland, 6-4, 6-2, helping keep the Eagles undefeated in MAC play and on top of the conference standings.

Mebuke and Supejova went unbeaten for the second-straight week. The reigning MAC Doubles Team of the Week helped Eastern Michigan to a 4-0 record in Mid-American Conference play by defeating Western Michigan, 4-3, and Bowling Green, 7-0. The No. 1 doubles team knocked off Western Michigan's Katheen Hawkins and Caroline Aleck, 8-5, before topping Bowling Green's Drew Fillis and Emily Reuland, 8-4.

The Green and White continues the 2014 conference slate Saturday, April 5, when the Eagles head to Toledo, Ohio for a dual match with the Rockets of the University of Toledo. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at the UT Varsity Courts.
