The Eagles will have its first two conference matches on the road this weekend

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team will begin Mid-American Conference play this weekend, March 21-22, when it travels to the University at Buffalo, March 21, and the University of Akron, March 22.

The Eagles have met the Bulls on 14 separate occasions and hold a 9-5 edge in the all-time series. Last season, the Green and White hosted UB, April 19, 2013. Eastern wound up on the wrong end of a 4-3 decision at the Chippewa Club. After sweeping doubles play, the Eagles saw just Daphne Friedrichs and Mariya Toncheva pick up wins in the singles round. Friday's match with the Bulls is slated for 1 p.m. at the UB Tennis Center.

EMU and Akron have seen the court versus each other in 27 matches. The Green and White has been dominant over the Zips, commanding a 22-5 edge all-time. The Eagles barely dispatched UA last year in Ypsilanti, April 20. After winning two-of-three on the doubles side, EMU saw Klara Supejova, Zsofia Biro and Toncheva come away with singles victories to seal a 4-3 victory for Eastern. The match with the Zips is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon inside La Tuchie Tennis Center.
