Getting to Know an Eagle: EMU Softball Player Lindsay Smith

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University softball senior Lindsay Smith (Seville, Ohio-Cloverleaf) joins Eagle All-Access for another softball edition of "Getting to Know an Eagle."

Smith has started all nine game for the Green and White in the outfiled and ranks second on the team with a .286 batting average, tallying six hits with two doubles and one home run. The Seville, Ohio native has grabbed a team-high 11 bases while boasting a .524 slugging percentage and a .400 on-base percentage in the first nine games of the season. The senior outfielder is one of just four EMU softball players to notch a multi-RBI game when she knocked in two runs in Eastern's 4-2 victroy over Villanova, Feb. 22. Smith's longest hitting streak came in a three-game stretch (Feb. 7-8) as she was the only Eagle to grab a hit against USC Upstate, Feb. 7.

The senior outfielder re-joined the team in her final year of eligibility as a graduate student at Eastern. Smith posted a .270 batting average in her two years on the squad with 24 hits and 15 runs while knocking in four RBI in her sophomore season.

Smith and the rest of the Eagles will stay in the Sunshine State when they play 10 games in six days.  The Green and White is set to play Florida International Tuesday, Feb. 25 with first pitch of game one at 3 p.m.
