EMU Tennis will travel to DeLand and Orlando on back-to-back days
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team will continue non-conference play this week when it heads south to the Sunshine State for a pair of matches. Eastern will first travel to DeLand, Fla. for a matchup with the Hatters of Stetson University, Feb. 25, before jaunting over to Orlando to square off with the University of Central Florida Golden Knights, Feb. 26. EMU and Stetson will start action at 2:30 p.m., while the Eagles will see UCF on the court at 2 p.m.
The Green and White holds a commanding lead over both of this week's opponents. It will be the eighth match ever between Eastern and Stetson Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles own a 6-1 record versus the Hatters in the first seven matches. The last time the Eagles and Hatters hit the court came back in current Head Coach Ryan Ray's first season at EMU. Eastern Michigan dominated that contest and wound up on the good side of a 5-2 decision Feb. 27, 2007.
The Eagles have seen the Golden Knights on 10 different occasions. Eastern holds a 6-4 edge in the all-time series, but has not been able to handle UCF as of late. The Green and White is on a four-match losing streak when it comes to Central Florida. EMU's last victory over the Golden Knights came back in the 1990-91 season when Eastern swept UCF, 9-0. Last time these two met, Eastern was swept, 7-0, Feb. 26, 2009.
