The Eagles will take on the Cornhuskers before hitting the court against the Redbirds

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team will continue non-conference play this weekend, Feb. 14-15, when it hits the road for a pair of dual matches in Lincoln, Neb. The Eagles (6-3) will take on the University of Nebraska, Feb. 14, at 5 p.m. before squaring off with Illinois State University Saturday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. Both matches will be held inside the Nebraska Tennis Center.

In the program's history, Eastern Michigan has taken the court versus Nebraska on seven different occasions, coming up short in each of them. Most recently, the Green and White was swept by the Cornhuskers last season, Jan. 12, 2013. In that match, the Eagles fell, 7-0, and were unable to steal a set in any of their matches.

Versus ISU, Eastern holds a much more impressive record, defeating the Redbirds in seven of their nine meetings on the court. The last time out against the Redbirds was during Head Tennis Coach Ryan Ray's first season at the helm of EMU's program, the 2006-07 season. Eastern topped Illinois State, 5-2, Feb. 23, 2007. The Green and White won the doubles point by sweeping ISU, before winning four of the six singles contests.
