The Eagles fell 3-0 at Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University's volleyball team dropped a match with Western Michigan University on its final road trip of the 2014 regular season in three sets. The Eagles (17-12, 8-7 MAC) now hold the No. 6-seed for the Mid-American Conference Tournament, while the Broncos (17-13, 8-7 MAC) moved ahead of the Green and White after the 23-25, 20-25, 24-26 setback.

Eastern Michigan struggled offensively, managing just a .145 team attack percentage. The bright spots for EMU were Jill Briner and Devon Murray who notched seven and six kills, respectively, while each hit .467 and .455. Megan Crawshaw led the Green and White with eight kills, while Katie Krasowski and Stacey Perinar each recorded five. Briner put together 10 assists per set, with 30. On the defensive side of the net, Corynne Smith posted 15 digs to pace the Eagles, while Natalie Folk's 10 came in second for EMU.

Eastern tallied a .132 attack percentage in set one, coming away with just 11 kills in the 23-25 frame. Crawshaw banged home five kills on nine attempts with two errors to go along with her three block assists. As a team the Green and White stuffed the Broncos on five occasions, while holding WMU to just a .157 hitting clip. Sydney LeMay was the catalyst for Western as she posted eight kills on 11 attacks.

Murray came out swinging in set two, connecting of 3-of-4 attempts for a .750 attack percentage. Despite Murray's success, Eastern was on the short end of a 20-25 decision in the game. Western's offense was the difference in the frame, as the Broncos posted just three errors on 46 attacks, picking up 15 kills and hitting .261 in the set. LeMay continued her strong play with three more kills while Alysia Baznik and Olivia Kofie each contributed four kills.

Eastern put together its best offensive performance of the night in set three when the Green and White hit .162, with a 4-for-4 performance at the net from Briner. However, it was Western's offense yet again that made the difference. The Eagles faced a .205 attack percentage which saw them on the wrong side of a 24-26 decision in the final set.

The Eagles complete the regular season Saturday, Nov. 15, when they travel to DeKalb, Ill. for a contest with the MAC West leading Northern Illinois University Huskies. The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN3. The Eagles final seeding in the MAC Tournament will be at stake in the match at the NIU Convocation Center.
