Four Match Win Streak Snapped By Bobcats

The Eagles lost for the first time in five matches
ATHENS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end Saturday, Nov. 1, at the hands of the Mid-American Conference leading Ohio University Bobcats. The Eagles (15-11, 6-6 MAC) were able to take one set from the Bobcats (19-4, 12-0 MAC), but were unable to top OU.
Stacey Perinar (Channahon, Ill.-Minooka Community) led the Eagles' offense with 13 kills, while Kesley Jones (Reed City, Mich.-Reed City) added 10. Jill Briner (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park and River Forest (Northeastern)) not only setup the EMU offense with 35 assists, but she added seven kills with a .375 attack percentage. Katie Krasowski (Oak Lawn, Ill.-Marist) posted seven kills, while Megan Crawshaw (Mattawan, Mich.-Mattawan) recorded six.
On the defensive side of the net, Briner picked up 20 digs, along with Corynne Smith (Norwalk, Ohio-St. Paul) notching 20. Perinar added 14 sigs, while Briner and Crawshaw led Eastern at the net with three block assists apiece.
The Eagles dropped the opening set, 20-25, while hitting .250 in the frame. Briner and Perinar each contributed three kills, while Alyssa Davis (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Plainwell) led the Green and White with five digs in the first set. The Bobcats used a strong offensive attack in the first frame, hitting .380, in order to take a 1-0 lead.
In set two, the Eagles used their defense to keep pace with Ohio. Eastern held OU to a .100 attack percentage on its way to a 25-19 set two win. Offensively, Perinar posted four kills, while Briner, Crawshaw, Jones and Krasowski each added a pair. Briner recorded 10 of her 35 assists, while Smith notched six digs in the set.
Jones and Perinar notched four kills apiece in the third set as the Eagles fell behind, 2-1, following the 19-25 setback. The Bobcats hit .270 in the frame, while Eastern managed a .158 attack percentage. Briner picked up nine assists, along with six digs. Smith notched six of her digs in the third set.
Despite a .212 hitting percentage in the final set, the Bobcats outlasted EMU, 20-25. Eastern had just 10 kills in the set, while OU totaled 18 on the way to the 3-1 final.
The Eagles return to the hardwood Friday, Nov. 7, by coming back to the EMU Convocation Center for a 7 p.m. match with Toledo.
