Meet Notes
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University's women's swimming and diving team will play host to a pair of Mid-American Conference opponents over the course of two dual meets on Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1. So far, the Eagles are 1-0 (1-0 MAC) after downing the University of Toledo last Friday, Oct. 24, and will look to extend the season streak to three victories with this weekend's action.
First on the schedule will be the University of Akron on Friday, Oct. 31. The Zips enter Jones Natatorium as the reigning 2014 MAC champions, but the Eagles have consistently held the upper hand when it comes to dual action. The Green and White holds a flawless 13-0 record over the Zips dating back to the 1998-99 season. Last year when the two teams squared off, the Eagles took a 169-125 win on Nov. 2, 2013, winning 11-of-16 events in the clear win.
Following Friday's Halloween matchup, the team will remain at Jones Natatorium to take on another team from the Buckeye State when Ohio University hits the water Saturday, Nov. 1. Eastern has not had as much luck against the Bobcats as it has had with the Zips in dual meets, as Ohio is on the advantageous side of a 23-8 record in the all-time series between the two programs. However, the Green and White took home the win in the most recent matchup on Oct. 27, 2012, claiming a 168-132 victory.
Friday's meet will begin at 5 p.m. in Jones Natatorium, while Saturday's matchup is slated for a 1 p.m. start time.
