Corynne Smith Selected the SASS Student-Athlete of the Week

Each week SASS will select one in-season athlete who exemplifies EMU’s commitment to building champions in the classroom and on the field

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Student Athlete Support Services (SASS) named Eastern Michigan University volleyball's Corynne Smith as its Student-Athlete of the Week today, Oct. 3. The junior libero is majoring in accounting and has a 3.96 GPA. She is also active in the Student Athlete Advisory Council, and was just named MAC defensive player of the week. Smith has excelled in the classroom and has been contributing on the court since arriving as a freshman in 2012. She has earned three Defensive Player of the Week honors in her career. Over the past three games she has been averaging over six digs a game for the Eagles helping them to a 10-6 record so far on the season.
