Each of Eastern's squads in action fell Sunday
URBANA, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – Andrea Martinovska and Klara Supejova of Eastern Michigan University's tennis team completed their action at the 2014 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Midwest Regional Sunday, Oct. 19. The duo was competing in the quarterfinal round of the doubles main draw, while the duo of Ani Gogvadze and Maria Paula Ribero had a match in the consolation round.
In the main draw, Martinovska and Supejova dropped two games in a row after keeping things even until 6-6 with Notre Dame's Allison Miller and Julie Vrabel. The lost games in a row forced the EMU duo onto the wrong end of an 8-6 decision.
Gogvadze and Ribero drew Illinois' Jade Hilton and Grace Tapak in the consolation round. The Eagles doubles team played neck-and-neck with the Illini squad and eventually came out on top, 8-7.
"We lost a tough doubles match today," remarked Head Tennis Coach Ryan Ray. "We had a key no add point at 6-6 that didn't go our way that could have made the difference, otherwise a very evenly played match."
The Eagles tennis squad does not return to the court until they travel to Miami, Fla. for the Florida International Invitational, Nov. 1-2.
