YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host the final pair of home meets this weekend. The Green and White will first welcome the neighboring Wayne State University into Jones Natatorium for a tune-up tilt, Jan. 24, before facing the nationally-ranked Ohio State University and Mid-American Conference foe Ball State University, Saturday, Jan. 25.
Both the men's and women's teams from Wayne State come into competition boasting a 5-1 record in duals for the 2013-14 season. However, the Eagles have been dominant in matchups against the Detroit, Mich. university. The men's squad holds a 9-1 all-time record against the Warriors, while the women have an unblemished 10-0 history against the team.
For the second consecutive week, the Eagles will take on an opponent from both the MAC and the Big Ten. While the Eagles have been dominant against the Cardinals of Ball State, as the men have gone 36-4 and the women boast a 20-14-1 record, neither the men nor the women have recorded a dual win against Ohio State. The No. 11-ranked Ohio State men's team holds a 4-0 record against the Green and White. Similarly, the No. 18-ranked Ohio State women's team has not conceded a victory in either of the two times in which it has gone head-to-head with the Eagles.
The weekend's meets are slated for a 5 p.m. start on Friday and 1 p.m on Saturday in Jones Natatorium. Live stats will be available through EMUEagles.com.
