ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)—
Eastern Michigan University's women's track and field team sent a group of athletes to the University of Michigan to compete in the Simmons Invitational, Saturday, Jan. 18.  The Eagles gained experience early in the 2013-14 campaign against Michigan, Notre Dame, and Mid-American Conference opponent Bowling Green State University.

The Green and White enjoyed strong performances across the board in the track and field events.  Highlighting the tracksters was Victoria Voronko (Stavropol, Russia-School #42)'s runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter run, completing the race nearly 30 seconds ahead of the next competitor.  The Eagles also boasted another top-10 finish in the distance as Taylor Knoll (Warren, Mich.-Mott (Lansing CC)) grabbed an eighth-place finish in the mile run.

In the sprints, Danielle Clark (Paramaribo, Suriname-Ewald P. Meyer Lyceum) clocked in at 25.85 in the 200m, good for sixth, while Iesha Hardiman (Santa Clara, Calif.-Adrian Wilcox) posted a 1:00.01 in the 400m.

The field eventers turned in four top-five performances, as Kate Wolanin (Oxford, Mich.-Oxford) and Pauline Chiariglione (Ajaccio, France-University of Nice) came in at a 4-5 finish in the high jump, Natalie Uy (Kettering, Ohio-Fairmont) earned fourth in the pole vault, and Sarah Chauchard (Montpellier, France-University of Montpellier) took fifth in the long jump.

To lead the throwers, Adrienne Waisner (Napoleon, Ohio-Napoleon) launched for a distance of 15.09 meters/49-feet 6.14-inches in the weight throw.

The Green and White will take a short break as a team, but Head Coach Sue Parks will send a small group to the University of Findlay to compete in the Findlay Classic, Friday, Jan. 24.  The Eagles will then open up the month of February by hosting a quad meet, Saturday, Feb. 1 in Bowen Field House.
