Former E-Club President will shave iconic mustache to help raise funds

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University football team is hoping to raise money to fund new facilities for the team. The goal is to raise $60,000 for the EMU football team. Not only can fans donate, but they can get perks in return. And now, Eastern Michigan has revealed a new perk for donations. Former EMU E-Club president, Ed Mizinski, and past Eastern football athlete will shave his iconic mustache if fans and students donate to the EMU football team.
Not only can fans receive gifts and perks based on their donations but they will also be able to witness one of the most established and active members of the E-Club shave his mustache that he has sported since his playing days at EMU. Mizinski plans to shave the facial hair if things go according to plan Saturday, Nov. 9, when the Eagles take on the Broncos from Western Michigan University.
Mizinski, a past E-Club president and former EMU football player, was given the Ron Oestrike Distinguished Service Award Feb. 19, 2011. The award, named after former EMU baseball-coaching legend Ron Oestrike, was first presented at the 2008 Hall of Fame ceremony to Oestrike. The award is voted on by the E-Club Executive Board and is presented to individuals that have been instrumental in assisting the E-Club.
Eastern Michigan Head Football Coach Ron English has been spearheading facilities fundraising projects since arriving at EMU and this is no different. The money raised is set to go toward the next stage of the football facilities' transformation and will include upgrades to the players' and coaches' locker room bathrooms, the players' lounge, the equipment room and the weight room.
