AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University softball team took the first of its final two-game series with the University of Akron, 4-3, Saturday, May 4. The Eagles (17-32-1, 7-13 MAC) rallied from three down to drop the Zips (22-28, 7-14).

The Zips opened up the game putting up a three-spot in the first inning. Kellie Roudabush got on in a one-out error by the Eagles. She moved up to third on a double from Alissa Birkhimer, putting runners at second and third with just one out. Jessica Schneider loaded the bases with a walk in the next at-bat. A wild pitch scored Akron's first run and put the Zips up, 1-0. Another wild pitch scored Birkheimer and a passed ball made it 3-0 when Schneider crossed the plate.
Abby Davidson (Westerville, Ohio-Olentangy Orange) singled to center field with one out and later moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt, bringing Nicholson to the plate. Nicholson hit a single to right center field to score Davidson and make it 3-1 in the top of the third.
In the fourth, Amanda Stanton (Homer Glen, Ill.-Lockport Township) drew a one-out walk bringing Courtney Loe (Temperance, Mich.-Bedford (West Liberty)) to the plate. Loe singled to put runners at first and second. Lucas ripped her fifth homer to make it 4-3 in favor of the Eagles, where it remained the rest of the way.
