HILLSDALE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team had members move up the charts in the EMU record books with personal-best marks at the Hillsdale-Gina Relays, April 26. EMU also had athletes in competition at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
Adrienne Waisner threw a personal-best 151-feet 09.00-inches (46.26 meters) in the hammer for a 16th-place finish as well as the seventh-best throw in EMU history. Kate Wolanin and Tiara Oates posted a pair of top-five finishes. Wolanin placed fourth in the high jump while Oates took fifth in the long jump.
Senior Morgan Churchwell already held the top time in the Mid-American Conference for the 1,500-meter run, but she improved that mark with a personal-best 4:30.55 to take ninth. Fellow senior Rachel Quaintaince moved up the EMU charts in the 5,000-meter run, one night after Victoria Voronko broke the school record in the event. Quaintaince finished the race in 16:58.83, the fifth best in EMU laurels, for 14th place. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Kayla Pfund now holds the fourth-best mark in school history with a 10:57.03 time.
In Des Moines, freshman Alysha Newman tied for runner-up in the pole vault with a leap of 13-feet 3.50-inches (4.05 meters). Senior Tatijana Jacobson placed seventh with a 5-feet 7.75-inches (1.72 meters) leap in the high jump.
The Eagles' weekend will conclude with the completion of the Drake Relays, April 27.
