The Eastern Michigan University baseball team will square off with the University of Michigan Wednesday, April 17, at the Wilpon Complex in Ann Arbor, Mich. Game time is slated for 4:35 p.m. with a free audio broadcast available through Eagle All-Access (EMUEagles.com/showcase) beginning 10 minutes prior to first pitch.

ALL-TIME BREAKDOWN: The Eagles (15-18; 5-7 MAC) swept Michigan (20-14; 7-2 B1G) in a home-and-home series last season, 12-2 at home and 7-2 on the road. In the road victory, April 18, the Eagles feasted on inconsistent Wolverines' pitching, which surrendered eight walks despite giving up only seven hits. EMU also turned a rare triple play in the third inning of that contest.

The two clubs will meet for the 174th time Wednesday, with Michigan holding a 112-60-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Green and White has won the last four meetings dating back to 2011 and is 6-4 against its Washtenaw County rival since Head Coach Jay Alexander took over the program in 2009.

STREAKING WOLVERINES: The Maize and Blue has been thriving under first-year Head Coach Erik Bakich, winning nine straight contests including series sweeps against Michigan State, April 5-7, and Penn State, April 12-14. Michigan will host Notre Dame Tuesday, April 16, prior to welcoming in the Eagles Wednesday. Bakich's squad holds a 2-1 record against Mid-American Conference teams this season.

ONE LEFT AFTER THIS: EMU and Michigan were originally scheduled to kick off the season series at Oestrike Stadium, March 20, but prevailing wintry conditions forced the postponement of the game until Tuesday, April 23. Last year, the Eagles demolished the Wolverines, 12-2, March 28, at Oestrike Stadium.

TIES RUN DEEP: Michigan pitching coach Sean Kenny was a two-time All-MAC selection as a pitcher at Eastern Michigan, where he played 1991-93. In 1993, Kenny selected in the 17th round by the New York Mets and played three seasons within the organization. Kenny came over with Erik Bakich from the University of Maryland, where he served as the Terrapins' pitching coach for three seasons.

HILL MAKES IT THREE STRAIGHT: Pitcher Brian Hill moved to 4-1 on the season with his third straight MAC victory in EMU's 9-2 triumph over the University at Buffalo Saturday, April 13. Hill tossed five solid innings while striking out five as the Eagles evened the weekend series at a game apiece. The Flagstaff, Ariz. native has made eight starts this year and leads the team in victories. He carries a 4.44 ERA over 46.2 innings of work.

LONGO'S BIG DAY OUT: Designated hitter Lee Longo had a terrific outing Saturday, April 13, in a 9-2 home victory over Buffalo, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and a season-best four RBI. For the series, Longo was 3-for-12 (.250) with a .667 slugging percentage. He now has three round-trippers to his credit with nine doubles and a triple.

RUSSELL INCHES CLOSER TO TRIPLES RECORD: Centerfielder Daniel Russell moved into a second-place tie in the EMU record books with his 15th-career triple to lead off Saturday's game against Buffalo. Russell went 3-for-4 in Saturday's victory. His three-bagger was the team-leading fifth on the year and tied his season-high from 2012. The senior from Grandville, Mich. is now just four triples away from tying Jeff Peck's 19 from 1968-70.

EAGLES LOCKED IN MAC WEST LOG JAM: After four weeks of MAC play, the Eagles in a four-way tie for second place with a 5-7 record in the West Division with Ball State Central Michigan and Western Michigan. Northern Illinois is the division leader with a 9-3 ledger. In the East, Kent State holds a one-game lead over second-place Buffalo, which took two-of-three from EMU over the weekend at Oestrike Stadium.

The Eagles will try to distance themselves from the Broncos Friday-Sunday, April 19-21, at Oestrike Stadium. EMU has swept its cross-state rival two years in-a-row.
