Johnson Selected MAC Women's Golfer of the Week

Junior earns her fourth career weekly conference accolade
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University senior golfer Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) was named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week for the period ending March 6. This marks the fourth time in her career she has collected the weekly award.
Johnson was EMU's top finisher at the Red Rocks Invitational, March 2-3, with a 150 (76-74) that put her in a six-way tie for sixth place. It marked the second-best 36-hole total of her career, bettered only by a 148 at the Nittany Lion Invitational, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, 2011.
EMU was in 11th place following the first day of the invitational, but a 303 second-round score moved the Eagles into a tie for fourth place out of 21 teams to conclude the tournament. EMU's 618 (315-303) total score was only six strokes behind third-place Southern Utah. Toledo won the team event with a 605, followed by Cal State Northridge with a 609.
The Eagles return to action at the 11th Annual Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, March 8-10, in Rio Verde, Ariz.
