Redshirt senior caps off sweep of MAC weekly awards For EMU gymnasts
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday, March 6, that Eastern Michigan University gymnastics redshirt senior Amanda Fuller (Hamilton, Ont. - St. Mary's) has been named Specialist of the Week for the period ending, March 3, and award presented to a MAC gymnast who competes in no more than two events during a competition.
This is the first career MAC weekly award for Fuller. She, along with teammate Khadijah Hudson, helped EMU gymnastics sweep the weekly conference awards this week as Hudson was named Gymnast of the Week.
Fuller had an impressive weekend on the vault and floor exercise for the Eagles. Fuller recorded a 9.800 or better in each of the four events she competed in. Against Northern Illinois, March 1, she tallied scores of 9.800 to finish runner-up and third place on the floor and vault, respectively. The Hamilton, Ont. native stepped up her routines, March 3, against Southeast Missouri State, recording career-highs on both the vault and floor with a 9.825 in each event, helping lead EMU to a mark of 194.675, its highest team score of the 2013 campaign.
The EMU gymnasts return to Bowen Field House for the final time this season, hosting the Eagle Invitational, March 9, at 7 p.m. The quadrangular meet features the Air Force Academy, Kent State University and the University of Alaska Anchorage.
