Eagles Fall in Three at Ball State

Eastern dropped its second in a row
MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball squad dropped its second straight Mid-American Conference matchup Saturday, Nov. 2, to Ball State University in three sets. The Eagles (14-13, 4-8 MAC) fell, 17-25, 19-25 and 16-25, to the Cardinals (22-5, 10-2 MAC) at John E. Worthen Arena.
The Green and White struggled offensively, posting an .039 attack percentage. Erin Short (Orrville, Ohio-Orrville) led the charge with seven kills, while Stacey Perinar (Channahon, Ill.-Minooka Community) notched six kills. Jill Briner (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park and River Forest (Northeastern)) posted a double-double with 21 assists and career-high 25 digs against the Cardinals. Ball State hit .230 in the win.
Eastern fell in the first set, 17-25, after hitting .102, while the Cardinals posted a .228 attack percentage, to take a 1-0 lead. Jenna Spadafora led BSU with five kills, while Paige Roback (Maumee, Ohio-Notre Dame Academy) led EMU with four kills in the frame.
The Eagles struggled with an .059 attack percentage in the second set, going down 2-0. Ball State took the set, 25-19, and hit .250. Spadafora and Hayley Benson each had four kills, while Jacqui Seidel notched 15 assists in the frame. Short posted a team-high four kills in the set, while Briner posted nine digs in the set.
Eastern's -.038 hitting percentage led to a third straight set loss, 16-25. EMU had four athletes post two kills as Briner, Dori Harrison (Euclid, Ohio-Beaumont (South Florida)), Katie Krasowski (Oak Lawn, Ill.-Marist) and Devon Murray (Shelby, Ohio-Shelby) each notched a pair in the set loss.
The Eagles take a break until Friday, Nov. 8, when they square off with the Broncos from Western Michigan University. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
