Rowing Completes Day One of the Head of the Hooch

Lightweight fours earn a third-place finish for the Eagles

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team completed day one of the Head of the Hooch Regatta today, Nov. 2. The Eagles raced six of its 14 boats in Saturday's event and will race seven more, Sunday, Nov. 3.
 
Eastern clinched a third-place finish in the lightweight 4+ boat as the team crossed the line at 19:48.90, just behind The University of Tulsa and Oklahoma City University.

EMU saw a top-10 finish out of the novice 8+ as coxswain Tauan Jeffrey (Grove City, Ohio-Fort Hayes) paced the team to a ninth-place finish with a time of 18:03.20, while the novice fours picked up a 14th place finish out of 31 boats for Eastern.
 
The duo of KC Anderson (Garden City, Mich.-Garden City) and Ashley Gilmore (Arlington, Wash.-Lakewood) earned a ninth-place finish in the 2x championships as they raced to a 20:46.70 time.
 
The Green and White 8+ team led by Sarah Hillegonds (Ann Arbor, Mich.-Ann Arbor Huron) finished 24th overall while the B team nabbed at 27th place finish in the first race of the regatta.
 
Eastern will conclude the Head of the Hooch, Sunday, Nov. 3 when it closes out its fall season. First race is scheduled to start at 9:25 a.m. when junior Tijana Milovanovic (Novi Sad, Serbia-Gimnazija Jovanovic Zmaj) competes in the 1x lightweight regatta.
