YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Head Men's Golf Coach Bruce Cunningham announced Friday, Nov. 15, that Nicholas Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) and Jake McNulty (Port Perry, Ontario, Canada-Port Perry-VCU) will be joining the Eagles for the 2014-15 season.

"Both Nic and Jake have had significant success at the national level," said Cunningham. "They each possess tremendous fundamentals, work ethic and low-scoring firepower. We are excited to add them to our program and look for them to make an immediate and positive impact."

Ross is currently the No. 5 ranked junior in Ontario according to the Golf Association of Ontario (GAO) and  is ranked No. 6 by the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA).  A three-time American Junior Golf Association Champion, he is also ranked No. 17 in the 2013 class, with a pair of wins this past summer at the AJCA Championships (70-70-69=209) and at the Randy Wise Tournament (75-73-73=218).

Ross finished third at the Ontario Boys (67-71-68-76=282), eighth at the Canadian Junior Boys (72-76-69-69=286) and 14th at the Ontario Men's Amateur (74-74-71-73=292).  In 2012, he won the AJGA tournament held at St. James (75-73=148) and the Ontario Tour Championship (68-71=139).

Ross is the son of Stephen and Janet Ross. His brother, Christopher, was also a member of the EMU golf team from 2006-09.

McNulty is a transfer from Virginia Commonwealth University and will have three years of eligibility remaining. The native of Port Perry, Ontario competed in all 11 tournaments for VCU during the 2012-13 campaign, recording a pair of top-10 showings and three top-25 finishes. At the ODU/OBX Collegiate he finished in fifth place with a 213 (69-70-74) while notching a 221 (74-75-72) for a sixth place tie at the Harmony Golf Preserve Intercollegiate. He also earned Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors after shooting a 222 (74-73-75) at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate Tournament.

This past summer, McNulty won both 2013 Junior Ontario Provincial championships, becoming the first  player since 2007 to win both the GAO Spring Classic (72-75-69=216) and Ontario Junior (70-73-69-66=278) in one season. He was also a member of the 2013 Silver Medal Ontario Golf Team.

Prior to going to VCU, McNulty placed 12th at the Canadian Junior Championships in 2011. As a senior, his Golf Association of Ontario team beat Team Quebec in a match and he represented Canada at the North American Cup matches in 2011. He also helped Port Perry to a Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletics Championship as a senior, as well as a second-place finish at the Ontario Federation Championships.
