Men's Golf Concludes Play At the Crooked Stick Invitational

CARMEL, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team concluded play at the Crooked Stick Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 15, as the Eagles posted a 11th place finish with a 926 (310-305-311) at the par-72 Crooked Stick Golf Club. No. 25 Arkansas won the event recording an 11-over par 875 (306-285-284) to win by five strokes over No. 44 ranked Purdue.
Arkansas' Sebastian Cappelen won the individual title posting a four-under score of 212 (70-71-71) after 54 holes to defeat Purdue's Adam Schenk by three strokes at 215 (74-73-68).
Sophomore Stuart Grehan (Tullamore, Ireland-Colaiste Choilm) was the Eagles' top finisher posting a 13-over par 229 (76-74-76) to finish in a tie for 29th place. Junior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Ancaster Secondary-Pfeiffer) carded a 14-over 230 (82-72-76) to place 37th overall as the Green and White's second finisher.
Sophomore Brett White (Kentwood, Mich.-East Kentwood) posted a score of 235 (75-79-81) to finish in 56th place while freshman Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) carded a 237 (77-80-80) to notch a 60th finish. Senior Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario-Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) rounded out the lineup with a 239 (83-80-76), placing 65th overall.
The tournament marked the last one of the fall for the Eagles. The spring campaign gets under way in February when the squad travels to Dade City, Fla., to compete in the Mid-American Conference Match Play Tournament, Feb. 10-11. Stay tuned to EMUEagles.com for more information.
