Eagles Complete Undeafeated Dual-Meet Season

BUFFALO, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team won its seventh straight dual-meet of the 2012-13 campaign Saturday, Jan. 26, when it defeated the University at Buffalo, 169-131. With its win EMU moved to 7-0 (5-0 MAC) and completed its first ever undefeated dual-meet season in Eastern's history.
 
Briana Emig and Jessie Godlewski led the EMU charge with a pair of victories at Alumni Arena's pool and natatorium. Emig posted the first victory in the 1,000-meter freestyle, touching the wall in 10:09.68, while Audra Burtch finished just behind Emig with a time of 10:13.51.
 
Sara Ghaffari posted the next Eastern victory in the 100-backstroke with a 59.02, with Helena Tolic taking second in 59.33. Godelwski picked up her first win of the day in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:02.60, which ranked as the fourth-best time in EMU history. Jacquelyn Swartz finished runner-up just behind Godlewski when she touched the wall in 2:05.99. Godlewski second victory came in the 200-backstroke when she completed the race in 2:05.73. Tolic was the runner-up in that race in 2:06.83
 
Emig's final win of the meet came in the 500-freestyle when she finished in 4:58.21, withc Burtch in second at 5:02.64. Swartz saw a first place finish in the 100-butterfly after touching the wall in 56.38, which ranks as the ninth-best time in EMU history. Meghan Richardson saw second in that race after completing the distance in 56.98.
 
On the diving boards, Lauren Dark took the top spot in the three-meter dive with a score of 267.98. Kelly Hendricks earned third place after scoring just 0.45 points less at 267.53. Hendricks, Dark and Danielle Hulvey took 1-2-3 in the one0meter dive with scores of 265.88, 261.23 and 258.75, respectively.
 
The Eagles complete their 2012-13 regular season, Feb. 9-10, when they travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Ohio State Winter Invitational.
