Eastern will head to Buffalo, N.Y. for its final dual-meet of 2012-13
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team will take a trip this weekend that could serve as one of the most historic in EMU history. The Eagles (6-0, 4-0 MAC) trek to Buffalo, N.Y. Saturday, Jan. 26, and look to win their seventh and final dual-meet of the 2012-13 season. If the Green and White can top the University at Buffalo, it will complete the first undefeated dual-meet season in the history of EMU.
The last time Eastern saw Buffalo, the Eagles hosted a dual-meet at Jones Natatorium. EMU came away from that meet with a 161-137 loss, Jan. 22, 2011. Briana Emig earned a handful of wins for the Green and White. The then-sophomore kick started the Eagles with a first place time of 10:15.60 in the 1,000 freestyle. She later placed first in the 500 free and 200 free, finishing the distances in 4:58.23 and 1:52.47, respectively. In the 100 breaststroke, Chelsea Allard recorded a runner up performance of1:05.96. She would also take second in the 200 breast for the Eagles, touching the wall in 2:22.07.
The Eagles are now 4-0 in MAC dual-meets for the 2012-13 campaign. This is the best start for EMU since the 2000-01 season, when Eastern went 10-1 (8-0 MAC) in dual-meets. With a victory against Buffalo, the Eagles will have completed their first undefeated dual-meet season in the program's history.
