Eastern takes on OU during final week of its non-conference schedule

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team continues to power through the 2012 campaign this week as it will travel to Rochesther, Mich. for a non-conference tilt with in-state rival Oakland University Tuesday, Sept 11.
The Eagles and Golden Grizzlies have faced-off 26 times previously, with Eastern holding a 23-3 edge in those matches.
Eastern (10-2) has been hot to start the season, including coming off of a 4-0 weekend at the 2012 Mean Green Invitational where senior Kristen Baker was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, while Rachel Iaquaniello and Erin Short each were named to the All-Tournament team. Iaquaniello also became the new record-holder for most kills in a career at EMU when she notched 13 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday, Sept. 7. Iaquaniello sits atop the kills chart with 1,579 for her career as well as topping the list in career attacks with 4,603.
OU (6-4) is coming off of a big weekend also. The Golden Grizzlies were able to capture their first tournament title of the 2012 campaign when they topped Cleveland State University in five sets Saturday, Sept. 8. Oakland's Alli Kirk was named the MVP of the Cleveland State Tournament.
The Eagles are looking to stay hot heading into their final week of non-conference play. Following its match with Oakland, Eastern will stay in-state and compete in the Coke/Michigan Invitational, Sept. 14-15.
