LONDON, England (EMUEagles.com) - Former Eastern Michigan University track and field student-athlete Jamie Nieto completed his 2012 London Olympic Games with a disappointing sixth place finish Tuesday, Aug. 7. Nieto leapt 2.29-meters, while the winner hurdled a 2.38-meter bar.

The 2012 EMU Hall of Fame inductee was able to make it passed the first two-rounds of the high jump without touching the bar, including 2.20-meter and 2.25-meter leaps. His unblemished record changed when he got to 2.29-meters when he failed to clear the bar on his first attempt. Nieto then leapt over top the mark in his second try sending him into the final-eight athletes. Nieto was unable to clear the next mark of 2.33-meters.

Of the eight athletes who cleared the 2.29-meter mark, three completed it on their first attempt leap-frogging them above Nieto into third.
