SUGAR GROVE, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – Inclement weather forced the cancellation of the final round of the 2012 Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Championship Sunday, May 6, making the tournament's third round results final. Eastern Michigan University finished in second place overall, posting a two-day cumulative score of 895 (297-297-301). The Eagles were nearly complete with their opening nine holes before the decision was made to pull the student-athletes off the par 72, 6,978 yard Rich Harvest Farms course as the weather worsened.

Play began at 8 a.m., on Sunday morning before the first weather delay of the final round halted action at around 10:15 a.m. Following a four-hour delay, play resumed for about two hours until a second delay finally forced the cancellation of the final round at 4:30 p.m.

Kent State University captured its third consecutive league title with an 855 (283-281-291). Behind KSU and EMU, Ohio managed a 896 (305-304-287) for third place. Ball State was fourth at 899 followed by Miami (900), Toledo (903), Northern Illinois (906), Akron (906) and Bowling Green (906) .

Individually, KSU's Corey Conners earned medalist honors with a seven-under 209 followed by teammate Kevin Miller in second place at 211.

Three Eagles ranked in the top 15, including sophomore Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) and senior Derek East (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada-St. Paul's-University of New Orleans) who tied for 10th place with a 221. Junior Casey Olsen (Okemos, Mich.-Okemos-Oakland University) finished tied for 15th with a 224 (78-71-75). Rounding out the EMU lineup, freshman Brian Burt (Dimondale, Mich.-Holt) and senior Zach MacDougal (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada-Centennial) were 28th and 45th, respectively.
