Box Scores: Game One. Game Two.

ROCHESTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)
— The Eastern Michigan University softball team's offense combined for 23 runs in this afternoon's doubleheader sweep over Oakland University, taking two five-inning contests by scores of 10-2 and 13-0.

The Eagles connected on eight hits to drive in 10 runs against the Grizzlies in the first game of the afternoon.

Katy Blaharski tied a career-best singl- game performance with a 3-for-4 effort at the dish representing the 11th multi-hit game of the 2012 campaign, while McKenna Russ posted a 2-for-3 effort while driving in three RBI.

Jenna Ignowski picked up the win in the circle to improve to 7-4 on the season. The Niles, Mich. native collected her fifth complete game of the year, striking out five and giving up just two runs on four hits.

EMU wasted no time offensively, as the Green and White jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the opening inning. Jessica Richards led off the Eagles' offense with a single through the left side and reached third base on a stolen base and catcher's interference call. With Russ and Richards at the corners, back-to-back walks of Nellie Coquillard and Amanda Herron brought home EMU's first run of the ballgame. Sarah Gerber followed with a two-run single up the middle to plate another pair for Eastern and put her squad up by three.

In the second, the Eagles would strike again with two runs on two hits. Lindsay Smith coaxed a walk from OU's B Doyle and stole second to create a scoring opportunity for Blaharski. Blaharski legged out a bunt in her second hit of the day, placing runners at the corners. An errant throw that failed to spoil Blaharski's steal attempt allowed Smith to come home for another run. Russ then singled to centerfield, waving around Blaharski from second base to give the Eagles a convincing five-run lead.

The Eagles would not relent in the third, doubling its lead with five more runs on three hits and two OU miscues. Allison Scherer reached base with one out on a throwing error and continued to progress around the base paths on a passed ball and wild pitch. A Gerber walk allowed Amanda Stanton to drive in two runs on a double to left center field and swell the Green and White's lead to seven. Stanton then scored from second on throw home that was off the mark, bringing Russ to the plate with runners at second and third. The senior managed to drive an 0-1 pitch to left center field to give the Eagles its ninth and 10th runs in the contest.

Oakland ruined the shutout in the bottom of the fifth, but its two runs were not enough to avoid the run-rule as the Eagles would seal a 10-2 win in five innings.

Game two saw much of the same in terms of the Eagles' offensive output. The Green and White hammered out eight hits for a season-best 13 runs.

Lindsay Rich threw all five innings for EMU to improve to 2-6 on the year. She held the Grizzlies to just one hit and fanned four.

Russ and Gerber each had multi-hit games. The duo from North Canton, Ohio also combined for five RBI, with Russ driving in three and Gerber owning two in the contest.

EMU jumped ahead early and never looked back in the nightcap. Gerber started things off in the second inning for the Green and White with a single to left field. Nicholson walked, putting runners at first and second for Smith. The junior belted a triple to drive in both runners and scored on the play on an errant throw by the OU defense.

A two-run homerun by Coquillard gave the Eagles a five run lead, but it would be an eight-run fifth that pushed the game out of reach.

Russ started the eight-run, offensive frenzy in the fifth for the Eagles with an RBI single up the middle. Gerber would then blast her first homerun of the season, increasing the lead to eight. Scherer tripled down the left field to put EMU up, 9-0, and later scored on an error. The Eagles closed out the inning with its two finals runs on a single and wild pitch to clinch a doubleheader sweep over OU.

The Eagles will continue this week's action when they open up the Mid-American Conference portion of the season this Friday, March 30, when they head to the University at Buffalo for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
