YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Natachia Watkins (South Euclid, Ohio-Brush) snagged a career-best 14 rebounds to go with a game-high 21 points as one of three Eastern Michigan University players with double-doubles, highlighting a 77-66 victory over Miami University in a Mid-American Conference crossover showdown at the EMU Convocation Center on Saturday.

Paige Redditt (Kansas City, Mo.-Belton) equaled Watkins' 21 points to go with 13 boards and Olivia Fouty (Toledo, Ohio-Sylvania Northview) chipped in 12 points and 10 caroms, as the Eagles (16-7, 8-2 MAC) won their third-consecutive decision over the RedHawks (17-6, 7-3 MAC).

Courtney Osborn led Miami with 19 points.

The Eagles forced seven turnovers and held the RedHawks to 2-for-8 from the floor to start the second period, which fueled a 19-4 run to build a 53-38 lead with 12:35 left.  An 11-4 run by MU cut the lead to eight with 6:44 to go, but it would get no closer.

The Eagles used a 16-5 run to open up a 12-point lead midway through the first frame, but the RedHawks' defense tightened to hold the Green and White 4:32 without a field goal late in the first half. The stingy defense allowing the Red and White to take its first lead of the contest since the game's opening possession on a three-pointer by Osborn with 58 seconds till halftime, 34-32.

A pair of free throws by Desyree Thomas (Waterford, Mich.-Mott), who equaled the program's second-highest single-game assist total with 13, sent the teams into the break tied at 34.

Tavelyn James (Detroit, Mich.-Mumford) led all scorers at the half with 12 points and played all 20 minutes despite picking up two early fouls. The senior guard, who moved into sixth in conference history on the career three-pointers made chart (269), finished with 18 points on 8-for-16 from the floor.

The Eagles shot 49 percent from the floor, including 33 percent from the arc (2-for-6), while the RedHawks managed 42 percent from the field, but just 27 percent from long range (4-for-15).

The battle on the boards saw Eastern Michigan hold a 47-27 edge on the glass, which led to 18 second-chance points.

Eastern Michigan extended its home winning streak to seven games, having won four straight overall. MU entered the day having won four of their previous five on the road.

MAC crossover play concludes for Eastern Michigan on Feb. 11, when Kent State University visits the Convocation Center.
