Men's Track Competes at 2012 Meyo Invite

EMU's men's track team competed in the Meyo Invitational for the sixth straight season

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan men's track and field team completed action in the 2012 Meyo Invitational held by the University of Notre Dame, Saturday, Feb. 4. EMU had much success throughout the two-day tournament including multiple top finishes.
Ian Hancke led Eastern in the distance races with a top placing time in the 3,000-meter run Saturday morning. Hancke completed the race in 8:24.86, while Harry Dixon took second in the race with an 8:27.22. Cole Sanseverino took second in the one mile run with a 4:08.16 and Austin Hendrix took sixth with a 4:10.50.
Terege Ejigu helped in the other distance categories with a fourth place time in the 3,000-meter run. Ejigu completed the distance in 8:01.80.
In the sprints, Cameron Bolton took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.58, while Jay Saunders finished seventh with a 21.92.
Grzegorz Kalinowski had the second best time in Eagle history in the 1,000-meter run on Friday. Kalinowski completed the distance in 2:22.76 and he fell to just Chris O'Hara from Tulsa, who was the 2010 NCAA runner-up in the mile.
"This was a very good weekend of competition for us as the team competed and performed well at Findlay and Notre Dame," remarked head coach John Goodridge. "A very high percentage of our athletes either set or tied a personal best or won their first collegiate events, as well as Ejigu and Kalinowski's marks were at a national level all adding up to a very productive team result."
The Eagles' track team heads to Allendale, Mich. Friday, Feb. 10, to start the Grand Valley State University “Big Meet”. The “Big Meet” is a two-day event spanning from Feb. 10-11.
