Women's Tennis Falls to 75th Ranked Wyoming

Freshman Daphne Friedrichs wins lone Eagle point
LINCOLN, Neb. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 dual-meet decision to the 75th ranked University of Wyoming Cowgirls here Friday, Feb. 3, indoors in the University of Nebraska Tennis Center.
Freshman Daphne Friedrichs (Hufingen, Germany-Elisa Brandstrom Schule) captured the lone EMU point with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 win over Wyoming's Silviya Zhelzaykova at No. 5 singles.
“Despite the 6-1 loss, this was a pretty close competitive match, EMU Head Coach Ryan Ray said. “We didn't convert on two matches where we won the first set, so need to work on finishing with the lead more. We are making progress. Wyoming has a good team, we just couldn't get enough key points against them.”
The Eagles, now 3-4 on the year, will meet host Nebraska in a 4:30 p.m. dual match Saturday, Feb. 4.
