Ignowski Named MAC West Pitcher of the Week

The Niles, Mich. native earned her fourth career weekly award

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Jenna Ignowski of the Eastern Michigan University softball team was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week by the league office today, Feb. 29. The weekly award is the fourth of her career.

Ignowski went 2-1 in the circle in the Eagles' opening weekend at the Courtyard by Marriott University of Central Florida Invitational in Orlando, Fla. The righty hurler threw 17.2 innings, striking out 16 and holding opponents to just 13 hits and a .194 average. Ignowski also posted an impressive 1.19 ERA and gave up just three earned runs with a 1.16 WHIP. In the Eagles 7-1 win over Seton Hall on Feb. 24, the Niles, Mich. native picked up her 16th career complete game victory while fanning seven in the contest.

Ignowski and the Eagles will return to the field today, Feb. 29, when they head to Jacksonville, Fla. for a doubleheader with Jacksonville University. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
