DETROIT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team hosted the University of Toledo for its second Mid-American Conference meet of the 2012-13 campaign. The Eagles topped the Rockets 163.5-136.5 at Jones Natatorium Saturday, Nov. 3, by winning 9-of-16 events against UT.
Eastern set the tone early with the team of Helena Tolic, Lauren Kalinosky, Jessie Godlewski and Maddie MacLean taking the 200-medley relay to start the meet. Briana Emig followed up with a victory in the 1,000-freestyle, her third of the season, in 10:19.14, while Audra Burtch took second behind Emig in 10:21.70.
Emig continued to impress throughout the day, taking first in the 500-freestyle (4:57.98) and second in the 200-freestyle (1:53.41).
Lauren Kalinosky took the top-spot in the 100-breaststroke in 1:05.77, while Irene Llorente placed third by touching the wall in 1:07.20. Kalinosky also had a first place finish (2:21.56) in the 200-breaststroke, while Monica Dorszewski took second (2:22.25). Godlewski and Jackie Swartz finished 1-2 in the 200-butterfly with finishes of 2:01.43 and 2:03.39, respectively. Swartz took first in the individual medley in 2:06.41, while Godlewski followed her with a 2:07.12 in second place.
On the boards, Kelly Hendricks, Danielle Hulvey and Lauren Dark went 1-2-3 in both the one and three-meter dive events. Hendricks took first (302.63), Hulvey placed second (293.10) and Dark finished third (258.60) in the one-meter. Hulvey was first (324.90) in the three-meter, Hendricks took second (293.55) and Dark was third (283.50).
The Eagles roll on through their 2012-13 schedule Saturday, Nov. 10, when they travel to Rochester, Mich. to take on the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies for a non-conference dual meet. The meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
