MAC SEASON STARTS IN ATHENS: For a second straight season, the Eagles will match up with the Ohio Bobcats to begin the conference season Sunday, Dec. 2, in Athens, Ohio. The Bobcats feature four returning placewinners from the 2012 MAC Championships including reigning heavyweight champion Jeremy Johnson, who enters the week ranked No. 9 nationally.
Also for the second time in two seasons, the Eagles will have the benefit of wrestling a Bobcats' squad which will have to go up against No. 12 Central Michigan the day prior to the match, Dec. 1.
“We have traded wins with Ohio over the past six seasons,” said Head Coach Derek DelPorto. “It is a fun dual because both teams are very determined to beat each other and start the MAC dual season off with a win. Athens is a tough place to wrestle because Coach Greenlee always has a crowd ready to distract our athletes and coaches. I kind of like it though.”
