YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball squad handed the Central Michigan University Chippewas their sixth-straight loss Thursday, Nov. 1. The Eagles dropped Central in straight-sets (25-19, 27-25, 25-19) at the Convocation Center.

EMU moved to 16-13 and 6-7 in Mid-American Conference play, while the Chippewas fell to 12-12 and 6-7 in conference tilts.

The Green and White was dominant offensively, posting a .267 attack percentage (40-9-116) in the straight-set sweep of Central. Rachel Iaquaniello (Plymouth, Mich.-Dearborn Divine Child) led the Eagles with 17 kills and a .368 hitting percentage (17-3-38). Megan Crawshaw (Mattawan, Mich.-Mattawan) hit a match-high .400 (6-0-15) and Erin Short (Orrville, Ohio-Orrville) posted six kills with a .375 attack percentage (6-0-16). Paige Roback (Maumee, Ohio-Notre Dame Academy) also posted six kills, while Alyssa Davis (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Plainwell) did the majority of the setting with 30 assists.

The Eagles took the opening frame, 25-19. Short paced the offensively by picking up five kills, while Roback notched four of her own. Davis posted 12 assists and Iaquaniello's five digs led EMU. The Green and White hit .359 (17-3-39) in the frame, including a .625 attack percentage (5-0-8) from Short. The Eagles held Central to a .191 hitting percentage (14-5-47) in the first frame.

Eastern was able to take a 2-0 lead by winning the second frame, 27-25. Iaquaniello hit .667 (9-1-12) with a set-high nine kills in the frame. She accounted for nine of the Eagles' 13 kills in the set. EMU hit .263 (13-3-38) as a team, with Davis adding 11 more assists to her total. Eastern posted six total blocks in the set with Crawshaw picking up one block solo and three block assists.

The Green and White cruised to a straight-set victory winning the final set, 25-19. Despite hitting just .179 (10-3-39), the Eagles were able to hold the Chippewas to a .020 attack percentage (14-13-50), giving them the straight-set win. Iaquaniello posted a team-high five kills in the set.

The Eagles continue to wind down the 2012 season with a Mid-American Conference match Saturday, Nov. 3. Eastern will play host to the Kent State Golden Flashes with first-serve set for 7 p.m.
