GREENSBORO, N.C. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team concluded play at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate Sunday, Oct. 28, as the Eagles posted a 12th place finish at the Grandover Resort in the 54-hole stroke-play event. No. 47 Mississippi State won the event recording a three-under par 861 (286-286-289) to win by four strokes over Chattanooga.
Chattanooga's Chris Robb won the individual title posting a nine-under score of 207 (72-66-69) after 54 holes to defeat Mississippi State's Axel Boasson by one stroke at 208 (69-67-72). Robb's third round score of 69 was the lowest of the afternoon while his second round score of 66 was the lowest of the tournament.
Senior Spencer Slade (Saline, Mich.- Saline-Savannah State) was the Eagles' top finisher posting a seven-over par 223 (74-74-75) to finish in a tie for 30th place. Junior Brian Churchill-Smith (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) carded an eight-over 224 (77-75-72) to place 35th overall as the Green and White's second finisher.
Senior Casey Olsen (Okemos, Mich.-Okemos-Oakland University) posted a score of 230 (75-79-76) to finish in 50th place while Tommy Conway (Jackson, Mich.-Lumen Christi) carded a 232 (79-76-77) to notch a 55th finish. Freshman Brett White (Kentwood, Mich.-East Kentwood) rounded out the lineup with a 236 (83-75-78), placing 63rd overall.
The tournament marked the last one of the fall for the Eagles. The spring campaign gets under way in February when the squad travels to Dade City, Fla., to compete in the Mid-American Conference Match Play Tournament, Feb. 11-12. Stay tuned to EMUEagles.com for more information.
