Eastern Drops Three-Setter at Western Michigan

The Eagles fell in three sets in Kalamazoo
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team dropped a match away from home to the Western Michigan University Broncos Saturday, Oct. 27. EMU fell in straight sets (19-25, 13-25, 23-25).
The Eagles fell to 15-13 and 5-7 in Mid-American Conference matches, while Western moved to 16-9 and 9-3 in conference tilts.
The Green and White offense was led by Kristen Baker (Mentor, Ohio-Mentor) who posted a .368 attack percentage (10-3-19) in the match. Rachel Iaquaniello (Plymouth, Mich.-Dearborn Divine Child) notched 15 kills, a team-high. The Eagles hit just .102 (34-31-127) in the match, while Western posted a .287 attack percentage (47-12-122).
Iaquaniello hit .400 (6-0-15) to lead the Eagles in the opening frame. EMU dropped the set, 19-25. Eastern was unable to stop the WMU offense, posting a .375 attack percentage (18-3-40) in the set win.
The Eagles struggled to get the offense started in the second set, posting a .118 attack percentage (9-5-34). Baker and Iaquaniello each notched four kills in the 13-25 set loss. Western posted a .429 hitting percentage (17-2-35) in the frame.
Eastern posted just a .019 attack percentage (12-11-54) in the final set of the match. Iaquaniello posted five kills, while Baker had four kills in the set. Eastern dropped the set, 23-25.
The Eagles continue their 2012 schedule Thursday, Nov. 1, when they play host to the Central Michigan University Chippewas at 7 p.m.
