YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
The No. 3 Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team hosts No. 6 University of Toledo in the Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinal Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28, at Scicluna Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

EAGLES TRY TO DETHRONE THE CHAMPS: The Eagles (11-6-1; 8-3-0 MAC) won the only meeting of the season against the defending MAC Champion Rockets (7-11-1; 5-5-1 MAC), 3-0, Sept. 23, in Toledo. In perhaps their best performance of the season, the Eagles dominated the Rockets, pouring 11 shots on goal compared to just five for the Rockets.

EMU SEEKS SECOND CHAMPIONSHIP: The Eagles have not won the MAC Tournament since the program's first season under Head Coach Scott Hall in 1999. The team went 10-1-3 in conference play that season, beating Kent State, Ohio, and Miami en route to the only MAC Tournament Championship in Eastern Michigan history.

EMU IN THE MAC TOURNAMENT: Since the program was founded in 1995, the Eagles have an all time record of 8-12 in MAC Tournament play. The Eagles haven't seen the second round of the tournament since 2009 when the team beat Kent State, 3-0, in the first round before falling to Miami in the semifinal, 2-1.

FOR THE TIE: Eastern Michigan entered the season with an all time record of 9-11-0 against Toledo. After the regular season win, Sept. 23, the Eagles are just one win from tying the series at 11 wins apiece.

ROCKETS BACK INTO TOURNAMENT: Toledo enters Sunday's game having lost three of the previous four games to close out the season, including the last two against conference foes Kent State and Northern Illinois.

But the Rockets will be making their eighth-consecutive MAC Tournament appearance under Head Coach Brad Evans. UT is 12-1-4 in conference tourney action under Evans and is undefeated in its last six quarterfinal matches. The Rockets have won the MAC Tournament four times in program history with the most recent coming last season.

CUTAIA LOOKS TO REPEAT CAREER DAY: Junior midfielder Cara Cutaia posted the best game of her career offensively against Toledo this past September. The Eagles' leader in total points this season (22) notched two goals and an assist. The five-point outburst was the highest single game point total of her career.

BEST REGULAR SEASON SINCE 2008: The Eagles' 11 wins this season is the highest regular season total the program has compiled since the 2008 season in which the team finished 13-5-5 including two MAC Tournament victories. The 2008 team eventually lost, 1-0, in the MAC Championship game against the No. 1-ranked Toledo Rockets.

BEST MAC RECORD SINCE 2003: Eastern Michigan's MAC record of 8-3-0 is the best the team has posted since the 2003 team went 8-2-2. This is also the greatest conference turnaround in program history. The Eagles won just three conference games in 2011, adding five more wins to the conference record this season. The previous mark had been an increase from five wins to eight from 2002-2003.

McCABE GETS CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOD: Freshman goalkeeper Megan McCabe was named MAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after EMU's 2-1 victory over Western Michigan Thursday, Oct. 25. The award was McCabe's first and the third for an EMU player this season.

In just her third start in goal for EMU after taking over for an injured Jenna O'Dell, McCabe notched her third straight victory. McCabe made seven stops on eight shots which included several key saves to prevent the Broncos from tying the score.

ROSSI CLIMBING SEASON GOALS LIST: Sophomore forward Bianca Rossi is currently tied for 11th place on the EMU all-time single season goals list. A goal against Toledo would give her sole possession of 11th place, while also tying her for 11th on the single-season points list. She is second on the team with 21 (eight goals, five assists).

GOAL SCORING TRIFECTA: The Eagles boast three of the top ten goal scorers in the conference this season in Bianca Rossi (8), Cara Cutaia (7), and Angela Vultaggio (6). Rossi and Cutaia are also among the top ten in total points with 21 and 22, respectively.

O'DELL CLIMBING SEASON SAVES LIST: Goalkeeper Jenna O'Dell currently sits in 10th place on the EMU all time single-season saves list with 82. With just three more saves, she would climb into sole possession of ninth place.

TOLEDO'S GAITAN NOT PHASED BY PRESSURE: Lining up against the Eagles this Sunday will be 2012 Olympic participant Natalia Gaitan. In fact, Gaitan was the captain of the Colombian team that qualified for and played in the 2012 London Olympics. Gaitan was also a member of the 2011 World Cup team, giving her experience on the two biggest stages her sport has to offer.
