EMU TO HOST BGSU IN SPORTSTIME OHIO TELEVISION CONTEST: The 2011-12 Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team will play the second of six consecutive games against Mid-American East Division opponents when the West Division Eagles host Bowling Green Saturday, Jan. 28, in a 6:07 tilt in the Convocation Center.
EMU started that six-game swing through the East with a 65-47 setback at Buffalo Tuesday, Jan. 24. EMU is now 9-11 overall and 4-2 in league action. The Eagles stayed tied with Ball State for the West Division lead after the Cardinals also dropped a game Tuesday, falling at home to Akron, 70-58.
Senior guard Darrell Lampley (Linden, N.J.-Linden-Lakeland C.C.) continues to lead the Eagles in scoring at 13.0 with junior forward Jamell Harris (Euclid, Ohio-Euclid) the top rebounder at 6.5 per game.
Bowling Green, meanwhile, began its West Division swing with a 71-58 home win Wednesday, Jan. 25, over Central Michigan, making the Falcons 9-10 overall and 3-3 in league play.
The visiting Falcons are led in scoring by A'uston Calhoun at 13.3 ppg with Scott Thomas hauling down 6.7 rebounds per game.

TELEVISION TIME:  The EMU-Bowling Green game Saturday, Jan. 28, will be televised live on SportsTime Ohio with Michael Reghi calling the play-by-play and former Toledo great Steve Mix handling the analyst chores.  Tip time is 6:07 p.m. in the Convocation Center.

SWAT NIGHT:  Sophomore Da'Shonte Riley (Detroit, Mich.-Country Day-Syracuse Univ.) blocked seven shots in EMU's 65-47 loss at Buffalo Tuesday, Jan. 24. That seven-block total ties the EMU single-game best for rejections. The EMU single-game totals for seven or more blocks in a game is listed below.

INSTANT Q: EMU senior guard Quintin Dailey (Las Vegas, Nev.-Bishop Gorman-Sheriday C.C.) has come up with outstanding offensive efforts in his last four games. In Tuesday's, Jan. 24, loss at Buffalo, Dailey scored 10 points with four rebounds. In his three games prior to Buffalo he had great second-half outputs. With the Eagles trailing by a 48-43 count with just 2:11 left at Ball State, Jan. 14, the 6-foot-3 Dailey hit a three-point field goal at the 2:08 mark to cut it to two, 48-46, and then added two free throws with 1:41 left to tie it at 48-all. In the 62-59 overtime win over Western Michigan, Jan. 18, Dailey scored six points in the second half to help lead the Eagles to victory.  In a 41-38 win over Toledo, Jan. 21, Dailey hit two consecutive threes down the stretch to help propel the Eagles to the win.

MATCHING THE SCORE:  When EMU turned in a 41-38 win over Toledo Saturday, Jan. 21, it matched the 41-38 final when the Eagles upended Central Michigan, Jan. 23, 2011, two days shy of a full year between those contests. Both of those EMU games came on the home Convocation Center court.

THRILLER IN OT:  EMU came up with a thrilling, 62-59, overtime win at home Wednesday, Jan. 18, over Western Michigan University.  That overtime win was the first extra-session game for the Eagles since a 68-65 loss to Detroit, Dec. 11, 2010, at home in the Convocation Center.  That last overtime win for the Eagles was a 55-53 victory at Ball State, March 8, 2009.

GREEN ON THE LATE-GAME TRIPLE:  The win over Western Michigan, Jan. 18, was the second straight game that EMU senior guard Antonio Green (Inkster, Mich.-Dearborn Heights Robichaud) hit a three-point shot in the last few seconds.  At Ball State the triple with 1.5 seconds left gave EMU a 51-48 win in regulation.  Green came up with another big three pointer against WMU, this time with just 4.9 seconds left, to give EMU what looked like a 53-50 EMU win. WMU's Nate Hutcheson would match Green's triple with one of his own at the buzzer to tie the game at 53-all, forcing an overtime session.  Green was up to the game-winning task in the extra session also as he made two clutch free throws with 17 seconds left to give the Eagles a 62-58 lead. EMU would go on to record a 62-59 win.

FIRST 4-1 START SINCE 1996-97: It has been 14 years between 4-1 Mid-American starts for the EMU men's basketball team. This year's Eagles jumped out to a 4-1 start to the Mid-American Conference season to share the West Division lead with Ball State. The last time the Eagles were 4-1 to begin a league campaign was 1996-97.  That '96-'97 squad won its first four games, lost one, and then won three more for a 7-1 start. The team finished 11-7 in the MAC that season, good for fourth place. Eastern was 22-10 overall in '96-'97.
