Golf to Compete at Irish Gridiron Classic

Eagles continue their fall season on the road

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team heads to Notre Dame, Ind. to participate in the Fighting Irish Golf Classic, Sept. 26-27, for the second consecutive year. The 12 team, 54-hole tournament will take place at The Warren Golf Course.

Last year as a team, the Eagles finished ninth with a team score of 888 (297-293-298). Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich. -Mattawan) led the Eagles with a top-25 showing, turning in a 24th place tie carding a 74 in the final round to finish with a 220 (75-71-74). Jared Dalga (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) gave the Eagles another player among the top 40, after carding a 78 to finish tied for 35th with a 223(73-72-78).

There will be 12 teams  in the field, including, EMU, Georgetown, Houston, Lamar, Miami (OH), Minnesota, Missouri, Notre Dame, San Francisco, St. Mary's, UT-Arlington and Villanova.

The course will be set up as a par-70, playing a distance of  7, 023 yards. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com. The tournament will begin on Monday at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start with the second round following directly afterward. Tuesday's final round will be a split-tee start beginning at 8:21 off the first tee and 8:15 off of the 10th tee.
