EMU Golfers Continue a Busy Summer

Six Eagles complete at Michigan Open while others are at Ontario Amateur

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Both current and former members of the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team recorded a busy week on the links with Marty Jeppesen, Korey Mahoney, Jared Dalga, John Seltzer, Joseph Stimac and Jordan Young excelling at the star-studded Michigan Open at The Orchards Golf Club in Washington, Mich. Meanwhile, Brian Churchill-Smith finished tied for seventh at the Ontario Amateur Championship at the Brampton Golf Club in Brampton, Ontario.

Jeppesen finished in fifth place at the Michigan Open with a 72-hole total of eight-under par 280 (72-72-70-66), followed by Mahoney in 11th with a 283 (70-77-67-69). Dalga and Seltzer tied for 28th place with an even-par 288 with Stimac taking home a 47th place finish with a 293 (71-76-74-72). Young missed the cut after posting rounds of 78 and 77.

Randy Hutchison made a dramatic birdie on the 18th hole to win the Michigan Open Championship. Hutchison, a former Michigan State golfer, won $10,000 and heads back to the NGA Hooters Tour. His final birdie gave him a two-under-par 70 for a 16-under-par 272 total.

In addition, Christopher Ross missed the cut at the Nationwide Tour's Chiquita Classic in suburban Cincinnati despite firing rounds of 75 and 74.
