YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)
—The Eastern Michigan University softball team fell to 25-16 on the season this afternoon after to falling to the visiting Golden Flashes of Kent State, 4-2, here at Varsity Field in Ypsilanti, Mich.

The Eagles (25-16, 11-8 MAC) scattered eight hits in the contest, but left six stranded in the loss, while Kent State (19-28, 9-9 MAC) had just five hits, three of which went over the fence to help the Golden Flashes to a game one victory.

Nellie Coquillard (Niles, Mich.-Niles) led the Green and White offense with two hits in three at bats, while Stacie Skodinski (South Bend, Ind.-Washington) contributed with two singles on the day.

Jenna Ignowski (Niles, Mich.-Niles)
takes the loss and falls to 13-7 on the season.

Lauren Wells (Lowell, Ind.-Lowell) contributed with a solid six innings in the circle, allowing just three KSU hits while striking out six.

EMU struck first in the opening inning. Coquillard drove a two-out single through the left side, and advanced to second after Sarah Gerber (North Canton, Ohio-Hoover) coaxed a walk from KSU's Danielle Abernathy. McKenna Russ (North Canton, Ohio-Hoover) brought in Coquillard from second base on an RBI single to centerfield to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Kent State retaliated with two consecutive solo home runs in the second inning from Beth Cinadr and Abbey Ledford to claim a 2-1 advantage, bringing Wells in from the bullpen to take over duties in the circle.

The Eagles put a runner in scoring position in the third on back-to-back-singles by Skodinski and Coquillard, but the KSU defense turned a double play to end the threat.

In the fifth, KSU used the long ball for the third time in the contest, this time off the bat of Jessica Carmichael to give the Golden Flashes a late 4-1 lead.

The Green and White cut their deficit to three on two hits in the sixth. Skodinski beat out a ground ball between first and second base for an infield single, and a Gerber double to left field moved Skodinski to third base.

With bases loaded, Kayla Kostich (Taylor, Mich.-Cabrini) was thrown out at first, but not before Skodinski came across home plate to give the Eagles' their second run of the ballgame.

The Eagles looked to string together a comeback in their final offensive stand after Lauren Delapaz (Plymouth, Mich.-Canton) singled up the middle, but the Golden Flashes recorded the final three outs to take a 4-2 win.

The Eagles will return to action tomorrow, May 8, as they honor Skodinski, Delapaz, Jaclyn Caro (Chino, Calif.-St. Lucy's Priory) and Jamie Melchert (Scottsville, Mich.-Mason County Central) on Senior Day at Varsity Field against Kent State. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
