Allen misses qualifying to nationals by one-hundredth of a second

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – It was a tough opening day for the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team as neither of its two athletes posted national qualifier marks, ending their respective seasons on day one of the 2011 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor East Regional Prelims today, May 26, in Indianapolis, Ind.
Clint Allen finished fourth in his heat of the men's 100-meter dash, posting a time of 10.58 and missing a qualifying mark by less than one-hundredth of a second. As per the format, the top three finishers in each heat advance, followed by the next six best times. The third-place finisher in Allen's heat also finished 10.58, but finished milliseconds ahead of the Eagles' sprinter.
For Meyer, he placed 10th in his flight in the shot put with a toss of 52-07.25. He missed qualifying by
just over a foot.
The Eagles will resume competition tomorrow with Donald Scott, Terefe Ejigu and Max Babits still having yet to compete.
