Lubber's Cup Regatta honors current EMU coach, former GVSU rower
SPRING LAKE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Brad Holdren was an All-American rower for Grand Valley State University in the early 90s. This past weekend, his current squad revisted his alma mater for the 16th Annual Don Lubbers Cup Regatta, a regatta which honors Eastern's coach by naming the women's Novice Four race after the standout performer.
On the day, the Eagles put four boats in the water, with their best finish coming in the Varsity Eights Cup Final. The Eagles managed a fourth-place finish with a time of +41.06, as the first Varsity 8+ squad of Clara Balmer, Briana Nesmith, Lauren Foley, Rebecca Dudus, Brittany Thomas, Brenda Gerdeman, Beatrice Korte, Taylor Cyr and Jennifer Shanafelt propelled EMU.
In the Eights Second Final, Sydney Pugh, Mary Keener, Brittany Jones, Annabelle Hawkins, Anamarie Esteva, Rumbidzai Muskwe, Oluwatobi Odeleye, Amanda Fross and Jennifer Fox placed second with a time of +38.27.
