A LOOK AHEAD:
The Eagles are headed to Buffalo, N.Y. to take on the Bulls of the University at Buffalo this Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Alumni Gym. EMU is looking to get back on the right track after having its four-match winning streak snapped last Friday at NIU.

LAST TIME OUT: EMU traveled to Northern Illinois University for its Mid-American Conference opener last Friday, Feb. 4. After a slow start in which the Huskies took the first five matches, EMU responded with Nick Hendrick's pin at 165-lbs. A subsequent win by Chris Eggert had the Eagles clawing back, however a loss at 184-lbs. left EMU coming up just short in a 21-18 loss.
“We got out-wrestled the first five weight classes and we lost the close ones again,” Head Coach Derek DelPorto said. “It put us in a tough position for our last five weight classes, but our two seniors stepped up and both got pins. Eggert and Whit won their matches to close the gap, but unfortunately it was too little too late.“

ROAD TRIPPIN': EMU hits the road for yet another contest away from the friendly confines of Bowen Field House as they prepare to take on the Buffalo Bulls in Mid-American Conference play.
“The key for us will be conditioning and building a lead,” DelPorto said of Wednesday's match against the Bulls.
Buffalo is 7-7 overall with an 0-2 mark in the MAC after suffering a pair of close defeats to open conference play. The Bulls dropped a, 16-15, decision to Ohio Jan. 29, before a, 19-13, loss to Kent State, Feb. 6.
Each features a wrestler ranked in the top-20 nationally according to the Intermat College Rankings. Desi Green of Buffalo comes in ranked No. 15 at 149 lbs., while EMU's David Wade is 18th in the heavyweight class.

BULL-MARKET: Eastern Michigan and Buffalo have split the last four meetings against each other with the Bulls taking the last two in a row. EMU last defeated UB during the 2007-08 season by a 21-12 score in a match that took place in Ann Arbor, Mich. and are still seeking its first-ever MAC win in Buffalo. The Eagles are 0-5 against the Bulls on the road in conference action all-time.

ON THE HORIZON: The Eagles will host their lone MAC match of the season this Sunday, Feb. 13, when they take on Kent State University. It will also couple as the final home match of the season and Senior Day for EMU seniors David Wade and Nick Hendrick. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m. at Bowen Field House.

THE CAPTAIN'S CLUB: Head Coach Derek DelPorto announced the captains for the 2010-11 squad. As chosen by their peers, senior heavyweight David Wade - who is coming off a season in which he qualified for the NCAA Championships - headlines the five-member group. Redshirt freshman Jared Germaine, sophomore Aaron Sulzer and juniors J.J. Johnson and Corey Phillips round out this year's captains for the Eagles.

EMU RANKED 20TH-NATIONALLY IN APR RANKINGS: Eastern Michigan University's wrestling program is tied with Pittsburgh and Princeton in the annual Academic Performance Ratings (APR) as released by Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine's June Issue. It's a new program-best for the Eagle grapplers. EMU ranks ahead of all Mid-American Conference institutions in the highly-regarded poll including Northern Illinois (29th), Buffalo (44th), Kent State (47th), Central Michigan (60th) and Ohio (67th).
