FORT MYERS, Fla. (EMUEagles.com)
—The Eastern Michigan University softball team dropped a 7-0 decision to Iowa this afternoon, Feb. 26, in their second day of action at the Moe's Blue and Green Invitational in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Iowa offense cranked out eleven hits compared to just three for EMU. Katy Blaharski (Carleton, Mich.-Airport), Stacie Skodinski (South Bend, Ind.-Washington), and McKenna Russ (North Canton, Ohio-Hoover) were the only EMU batters to register a hit for the Green and White.

EMU fell behind early in the first inning after Iowa's Jenny Schuelke belted an RBI triple to left-center field. An illegal pitch and a walk put runners on the corners and the Hawkeyes successfully converted, scoring two more runs to take a 3-0 advantage.

Blaharski singled to third base for the Eagles' first hit of the contest in the fourth, but the Iowa defense was able to get out of the top half and later added three more insurance runs in the bottom of the same inning.

The Eagles waited until the seventh for a hopeful rally as Skodinski reached base safely with a single to short stop. With two outs, Russ singled up the middle, moving Skodinksi to second, but a fielder's choice to get Russ at second base ended the threat.

Jillian Williamson (Sebewaing, Mich.-Unionville-Sebewaing Area) is issued the loss (0-1) with three strikeouts in five innings pitched. Iowa's Kayla Massey (5-1) earned a complete game shutout with six strikeouts on the day.

The Eagles will take the rest of the day off and will get back on the field tomorrow as they face UMBC for the second time in two days. First pitch is slated for 9 a.m.
