Women's Golf Finishes Tied for Sixth at Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate

Senior Darby Peters takes 20th place with a 54-hole total of 233
VICTORIA, Texas (EMUEagles.com) – Led by senior Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion), the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finished in a tie for sixth place Monday, Feb. 14, here at the 17-team Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate on the par 72, 6,061-yard course at Victoria Country Club. As a team, the Eagles managed a 54-hole total of 944 (317-308-319) to finish in a tie with Mid-American Conference foe Ball State University.
Tournament host Texas State University won the event for the third consecutive year with a total of 912 (312-296-304) total. The Bobcats used a third round score of 304 (+16) to win by eight shots over Kansas. TSU's Krista Puisite won the individual championship with a 225, beating Tulsa's Kamryn Ruffin in a playoff for her first collegiate victory.
Peters recorded rounds of 78, 76 and 79 for a total of 233 in 20th place, for the third best individual showing out of a student-athlete from the three Mid-American Conference institutions in the tournament. The top 20 showing was her third of the 2010-11 campaign.
Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hills, Ontario-Richmond Hills) tied for 25th place with a 235 (76-78-81), as Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich. -Walled Lake Central) finished 32nd with a 238 (80-75-83). Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School) managed a 242 (83-79-80) in 42nd place, while Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand-Westlake Girls Texas Tech Univ.) tallied a 247 (84-84-79) in a tie for 55th.
The Eagles head to the "Valley of the Sun," for the annual Red Rocks Invitational, Feb. 26-27, at the at the Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona, Ariz.
