Former EMU Football Player Mike Price Passes Away

Earned four EMU football letters from 1978-82

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Mike Price, who earned four letters for the Eastern Michigan University football team from 1978-82, passed away suddenly, Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, in Saline, Mich.  He was 51-years-old.

Price taught physical education in the Saline school district for 15 years and was in his third year at Heritage School, teaching fourth- and fifth-graders. He taught at Saline Middle School previous to that. He also helped coach a variety of sports, including assisting with the varsity football program as well as the middle school track and wrestling teams. His son, Matt, is currently a member of the EMU football team as a redshirt junior defensive lineman.  His daughter, Amanda, is a senior captain on Saline's varsity girls basketball team. He is also survived by his wife, Merry, and another daughter, Renee.

A native of Monroe, Mich., Price entered Eastern Michigan as a freshman in 1978 and earned varsity football letters in 1978 and 1979, missed the 1980 season with an injury, and returned to letter in 1981 and 1982, graduating in 1983.  He served as one of the co-captains in 1981.
