BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team topped the Bowling Green State University Falcons, 171-123, today, Nov. 5 at Cooper Pool in the Eagles' second Mid-American Conference dual-meet of the season.
The victory over the Falcons (2-3, 0-3 MAC) is the Green and Whites' 15th-consecutive win against BGSU and improves them to 1-1 (1-1 MAC) on the season.
EMU won 10 of 16 events on the afternoon, with Briana Emig, Amanda Kiefer, Danielle Hulvey and Jacquelyn Swartz each notching multiple wins for the Eagles.
Emig paced the Green and White with three first-place finishes on the day. She posted the fastest times in the 1,000, 500 and 200 Freestyle events, with teammate Wesley Blassneck providing support with third place finishes in the 1,000 and 500 distances.
Kiefer was first to touch the wall in the 100 Backstroke at 58.79 and also led the Eagles' 1-3 finish in the 200 Back with Jessie Godlewski cruising in at 2:09.83 in third place.
On the boards, Danielle Hulvey posted first place scores in both the one and three meter dives. She posted 269.13 points on the three meter boards to lead all competitors and earned a first place, 266.40 mark on the one meter. Freshman Soquel Rey was runner-up in the event, tallying 258.37 points in second place for the Eagles.
Multiple wins by Swartz came in the 100 Butterfly and 200 Individual Medley this afternoon. She and Sara Ghaffari went 1-2 in the 100 Fly after completing the distance in 57.96 and 57.99, respectively. Swartz would later earn a first place, 2:10.24 finish in the 200 IM, while teammate Godlewski finished in second 2:11.51.
Monica Dorszewski picked up points with second place finishes in both of the breaststroke events, while Lauren Kalinosky would follow in third in both the 100 and 200 distances.
The Eagles will return to action next Saturday, Nov. 12 when they host Oakland University at Jones Natatorium at 1 p.m.
